València's Estació del Nord will regain its original appearance with a budget of nearly 20.7 million euros. These funds come from the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan and the 2% Cultural Program of the Government of Spain.
The Government delegate in the Valencian Community, Pilar Bernabé, has visited the integral restoration works of the station. The actions have already covered an area of 18,000 square meters of facades, where the original plaster has been recovered using the 'buixarda' technique.
According to a statement from the Delegation, the progressive process of artisanal restoration of the woodwork is being maintained, an action that requires specialized techniques due to the historical value of the elements.
The delegate recalled that the intervention has been developed in several phases on roofs, facades, and the canopy, and highlighted that the works "enhance and guarantee the historical and architectural heritage of the station, which abounds with elements of local identity".
Currently, the second phase of the restoration of the historic canopy is nearing completion, with work carried out on five of the twelve central spans that make up the structure. Phase three will include intervention on the main facade and the facade on Carrer d'Alacant, thus completing the exterior work on the building.
The exterior finish is being executed in a natural white color, restoring the original hue of the building, in contrast to the darker paint layers added in subsequent interventions.
