Valencia's Central Market will begin works on April 14 to install a new vehicle access control system in its basement, aiming to improve traffic management and ensure orderly access.

The Councillor for Commerce and Markets, Santiago Ballester, has announced that the works will commence after the Sant Vicent Ferrer festivities. This decision seeks to minimize inconvenience for both vendors and customers of the Central Market.

"The system to be implemented will improve traffic management in the market's basement and will ensure safe and orderly access for both vehicles carrying out logistical tasks and shoppers collecting their purchases."

The total budget for this project amounts to 134,158.36 euros, including VAT, and the estimated duration of the works is approximately 3 months. The control system will include electromechanical barriers, license plate recognition cameras, card and QR code detectors, LED traffic lights, and an integrated management system.
It is important to note that the parking area where the work will be carried out is exclusively for loading and unloading, and does not offer a public parking service. The project has the authorization of the General Directorate of Cultural Heritage of the Ministry of Culture, as the Central Market is a building declared a Site of Cultural Interest (BIC).
