Valencia's Central Market will implement a new vehicle access control system in its basement level starting April 14, after the Sant Vicent Ferrer festivities, to enhance traffic management and safety.

The Valencia City Council will begin works next Tuesday, April 14, to install this system, as announced by the Councilor for Commerce and Markets, Santiago Ballester. The work will commence once the Sant Vicent Ferrer festivities conclude, aiming to minimize inconvenience for both vendors and customers.
This new system is designed to regulate traffic in the underground car park and ensure safer and more organized access for vehicles performing logistical tasks, as well as for shoppers collecting their purchases. The area of intervention is a car park exclusively for loading and unloading, not a general-use parking service.
The total investment for this project amounts to 134,158.36 euros, including VAT, and the works are estimated to last approximately three months. The project includes the installation of electromechanical barriers, license plate recognition cameras, access systems using cards and QR codes, LED traffic lights, and an integrated management system to control vehicle flow.
The intervention has the authorization of the General Directorate of Cultural Heritage of the Ministry of Culture, as the Central Market is declared a Site of Cultural Interest (BIC).
