After several days with almost summer-like weather, where maximums exceeded 29 degrees in many parts of the territory, the Valencian Community has experienced a drastic change in weather. The plummeting temperatures have been strongly felt, with drops of up to 11 degrees in just 24 hours. A clear example is Alcoi, where the temperature has fallen from 31 degrees to a cooler 19 degrees.
This phenomenon, already defined as a true "thermal slide," has been felt with particular intensity in the inland regions. The main cause of this meteorological shift is the entry of abundant cloudiness and the direct action of the easterly wind, factors that have helped lower maximums by an average of 7.5 degrees across the region. Beyond the thermal relief, the situation seriously concerns the agricultural sector, which fears severe consequences for crops if temperatures continue their downward trend.
Forecasts from the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) indicate that instability will continue in the coming hours. For today, cloudy intervals are expected with a high probability of showers, which could be accompanied by strong thunderstorms in the provinces of Valencia and Alicante, without ruling out that they may also affect Castellón.
Looking ahead to the weekend, the weather will maintain a similar pattern. Although skies will tend to clear on Saturday afternoon, precipitation is still expected in the southern half of the Community during the morning. As for temperatures, the general trend will continue to be a slight decrease, with the sole exception of the interior of the province of Valencia, where thermometers could offer a small respite and begin a slight ascent.
