The Urban Planning Commission of València approved this Monday the modification of the General Urban Development Plan to convert the Guatla warehouses into public spaces.

The new urban planning affects the Sant Antoni and Tormos neighborhoods. The action involves the definitive cancellation of a hotel project that planned for more than 500 beds, making way for the creation of green areas, public facilities, and affordable housing for citizens.
In the Guatla area, which has a surface area of 6,306 square meters, a public garden of 1,273 square meters will be set up. In addition, the north warehouse will be rehabilitated as a public facility, and land will be reserved for assisted housing under an affordable rental scheme. The project also integrates the Guatla branch of the Rascanya irrigation ditch, an element cataloged as a Local Relevance Asset.
On the other hand, the reorganization of Doctor Olóriz, Just Ramírez, and Vicente Peris streets will allow for the addition of 2,585 square meters of new green areas and 421 square meters of facilities. In total, the action in both sectors covers 15,811 square meters, with the aim of correcting the historical deficit of facilities in the La Saïdia district.

"This new arrangement settles a historical debt with a neighborhood that had a deficit of facilities and green areas. We have replaced a private macro-hotel with public facilities at the service of the neighbors."
