The Commission for Social Welfare, Education, Culture, and Sports has put forth a proposal to the Plenary for Valencia's integration into this initiative. The primary objective is to foster cooperation between cities in the cultural sphere, as reported by the Delegate Councilor for Cultural Action, Heritage, and Cultural Resources, José Luis Moreno.

The proposal, unanimously approved, initiates the necessary procedures for Valencia to join the Spanish Network of Cultural Capitals, a project driven by the Spanish Federation of Municipalities and Provinces (FEMP). Moreno highlighted that this network "is conceived as a stable space for technical and political collaboration among local entities."

The accession will enable Valencia to participate in a direct cooperation space, exchanging experiences in cultural management, programming, citizen participation, and urban innovation. Furthermore, it will facilitate the city's integration into a common work agenda, including technical meetings and shared projects.

Moreno emphasized that this integration will bolster Valencia's cultural positioning, particularly in processes like becoming the European Capital of Culture. "This network will also allow us to jointly represent ourselves before the Government of Spain and other institutions, thereby promoting the strengthening of the local cultural ecosystem," he stated.

The proposal, awaiting approval by the municipal Plenary, represents a significant step towards formalizing Valencia's accession to the FEMP, after which the City Council will carry out the relevant procedures.
