The Valencia City Council will begin processing a Special Plan for the city's Littoral Front this Friday. This was announced by the mayor of Valencia, María José Catalá, this Wednesday during a breakfast at Nueva Economía Forum.
According to Catalá, this plan will focus on the area between the future river mouth park and Patacona beach, specifically affecting a 5 km long and 1 km wide stretch. The mayor indicated that it will include urban regeneration projects in coastal neighborhoods such as Natzaret, Cabanyal, and Malvarrosa. Furthermore, as she hinted last week, the renovation of the city's promenade is planned, adhering to sustainability criteria adapted to current climate realities, she mentioned.

"Therefore, it will be an initiative that aims to go far beyond a specific action on the promenade: it is conceived as a comprehensive urban planning reflection on one of the areas with the greatest transformative potential in Valencia," stated Catalá.
Another announcement made by the mayor was the new agreement with the Trinidad Alfonso Foundation for the lighting of the seventeen bridges in the Turia Garden. This initiative aims to "provide greater safety for athletes and citizens" by illuminating the underpasses of the bridges and renewing the ornamental lighting to "enhance" the historical and emblematic bridges. While the foundation will carry out the work, Catalá mentioned it within the context of a 58 million euro investment plan for the Turia Garden over the next 5 years.
The mayor cited Pope Leo XIV's encyclical on Artificial Intelligence to affirm her shared "humanistic vision" of AI. In this regard, she announced the establishment of an Applied AI Center, Spain's first public space for companies, administrations, and research centers to apply AI advancements to provide real solutions for citizens.
She also mentioned that next week a Valencian delegation will travel to Silicon Valley with a confirmed agenda of meetings with leading global AI companies.

"We will guide artificial intelligence with a human hand to reach every resident, wherever they are. We do not want an Artificial Intelligence that only a few can access. No one should be left behind, which is why we have already signed an alliance with Microsoft to train citizens in Artificial Intelligence," she stated. She also alluded to an agreement with the Etnor foundation to advance and deepen the ethical dimension in AI applications.
