The Valencia City Council begins today, April 14, the works to install a vehicle access control system in the basement of the Central Market, aiming to improve traffic management and ensure secure access.

The Councillor for Commerce and Markets, Santiago Ballester, announced that the works will commence after the Sant Vicent Ferrer festivities. This decision seeks to minimize inconvenience for vendors and customers of the Central Market, postponing the start of the works until after the celebrations.
The new system, to be implemented in the market's basement, will allow for better traffic management and ensure orderly access for both logistics vehicles and shoppers collecting their purchases. The total budget for the project amounts to 134,158.36 euros, including VAT, and the works are estimated to last approximately three months.
The access control system will include electromechanical barriers, cameras for license plate identification, card and QR code detectors, LED traffic lights, and an integrated management system to control vehicle access. It is important to note that this parking area is exclusively for loading and unloading, not a public parking service.
The project has the authorization of the General Directorate of Cultural Heritage of the Ministry of Culture, as the Central Market is a building declared a Site of Cultural Interest (BIC).
