Pedro Martínez's team nearly had the victory secured in the final moments of regulation time. However, two extraordinary three-pointers from Will Clyburn, both perfectly defended, sent the game into overtime. There, a decisive 2+1 play by Joel Parra ultimately tipped the balance in favor of the Barça side.
The defeat left a bitter taste at the Roig Arena, which provided a spectacular atmosphere and spurred their team on throughout the night. The 'taronja' delivered a brilliant performance, scoring 112 points and witnessing their opponent convert 19 three-pointers with an outstanding 50% accuracy, a figure that proved decisive.
The Valencian start was simply spectacular. With Jean Montero directing, Brancou Badio punishing from the perimeter, and the inside connection with Matt Costello working perfectly, Valencia Basket set a frenetic pace from the opening tip. Montero repeatedly found Costello under the basket, Kameron Taylor and Braxton Key attacked aggressively, and the team quickly built a lead that forced Barça to call a timeout. Not even the visitor's timeout stopped the local onslaught. Álvaro de Larrea extended the lead from three-point range, and the difference surpassed ten points. The first quarter concluded with a decisive 25-13, reflecting Valencia's dominance.
Barça reacted in the second period with a barrage of three-pointers. Joel Parra and Darío Brizuela initiated an authentic outside exhibition that allowed the Catalans to close the gap dangerously. Valencia Basket responded with a great performance from Badio, the inside presence of Yankuba Sima, and Montero's individual plays. The final stretch of the first half was marked by tension, but Valencia Basket managed to maintain a minimal lead at halftime: 52-47.
Barça's exit after halftime was devastating. Laprovittola opened the third quarter with a three-pointer and, along with Clyburn, led a run that put the visitors ahead for the first time since the early minutes of the game. The lead changed hands numerous times. Jaime Pradilla emerged strongly and kept his team alive while Barça continued to sink impossible three-pointers. A long-range triple from Juani Marcos closed the third period with the visitors leading: 72-75.
As the game entered its decisive phase, Jaime Pradilla took on much of Valencia's offensive responsibility. A spectacular dunk by Pradilla returned the lead to Valencia Basket. The match entered a constant exchange of blows where Jean Montero's presence was felt. With only seconds left, Taylor converted two free throws that seemed definitive (101-98). But then Clyburn appeared, hitting two impossible three-pointers to tie the game at 101 and force overtime.
Overtime maintained the same script. However, as the game reached its crucial moment, Joel Parra delivered a fundamental 2+1 play (110-113). Badio immediately reduced the deficit, and Valencia Basket had one last chance. Kameron Taylor's shot to win the game did not fall, and with it, the first point of a final that began with an unforgettable duel slipped away.
Jean Montero led the 'taronja' resistance with 24 points, accompanied by Pradilla, Badio, Key, Costello, and Taylor. However, not even such a high-level collective performance was enough to overcome one of the most impressive three-point shooting displays ever remembered in a Liga Endesa final.
