This long-term commitment reinforces the club's dedication to the African player, who recently turned 27 years old and is the captain of the Senegal national team. Badio joined Valencia Basket in the summer of 2024 after the club paid his release clause to leave BAXI Manresa. At that time, he signed until 2027, meaning he still had one season left on his contract.
With this new agreement, Badio becomes the player with the longest contract currently in force on the team.
The guard has established himself as a relevant element within the rotation of Pedro Martínez, the coach with whom he previously coincided during his time in Manresa. In the Liga Endesa, Badio is averaging 9 points, two rebounds, and two assists in about 18 minutes per game this season. In the EuroLeague, he elevates his scoring to 11 points, maintaining similar figures in rebounds and assists in nearly 19 minutes of play.
Known as 'Papi', Badio began his journey in Spain thanks to the Canarias Basketball Academy, which discovered him at a camp in Dakar. In 2019, he made the leap to FC Barcelona, where he completed his training and made his debut with the first team. Subsequently, in 2021, he signed with Fraport Skyliners in Germany, and a year later returned to the ACB with Manresa, before joining Valencia.
Badio's continuity joins the recent contract extensions of Jaime Pradilla, Nate Reuvers, and Omari Moore, as part of the club's strategy to consolidate its roster. Additionally, the entity has also recently renewed the contracts of Pedro Martínez himself and sports director Luis Arbalejo.
