València and València Nova Awards 2026 Double Participation with 504 Works

The Institució Alfons el Magnànim has received 53% more submissions than last year, consolidating the province's oldest literary competition.

The València and València Nova Awards 2026, organized by the Institució Alfons el Magnànim of the Diputación de València, have doubled their participation compared to last year, receiving a total of 504 works across various literary disciplines.

This increase represents a 53% growth compared to the 234 works submitted in 2025. When compared to the registration from two years ago, which was around 150 works, the increase is almost threefold, demonstrating the healthy state of these awards.
For the València Awards, open to authors over 18 years old, 31 essays, 118 narrative works in Spanish, 47 narrative works in Valencian, 25 graphic novels, 146 poetry works in Spanish, and 41 in Valencian have been submitted. As for the València Nova Awards, aimed at young authors aged 18 to 34, participation included 9 essays, 19 narrative works in Spanish, 12 in Valencian, 43 poetry works in Spanish, and 13 in Valencian.
The Official Gazette of the Province of València (BOP) has already published the definitive list of admitted and excluded works, following the completion of the rectification period. Additionally, the composition of the qualifying juries for each category has been made public, appointed in accordance with the eighth rule of the call.
The juries will be chaired by the Deputy of Culture, Paco Teruel, and will include renowned specialists in each category. For essays (in both València and València Nova Awards), the jury will consist of Fracesc Xavier Agustí Campos, María del Carmen Navarro Dolz, Clara Colomina Martínez, and Amadeo Serra Desfilis. For graphic novels, the members will be Clara Berenguer Revert, Silvia Aymí Pelej’à, María Trapero Indaberea, and Miguel Ángel Giner Bou.
For narrative in Valencian, the jury includes Arturo Blasco Ferrer, Josep Franco Martínez, Teresa Gomis Baixauli, and Irene Klein Fariza. For narrative in Spanish, the works will be evaluated by Enrique Parra Veïnat, Maria Magdalena Simó Beltrán, Antonio Sabater Pérez, and Rosa María Magdalena Rodríguez Pérez. Finally, the jury for poetry in Valencian is composed of Víctor José Filgueira Maseres, Alba Fluixà Pelufo, Rosa Maria Roig Celda, and Josep Micó Conejero, while for poetry in Spanish, the winners will be decided by Inmaculada Lergo Martín, Anacleto Ferrer Mas, María Dolores Andrés Pérez, and María Zaragoza Hidalgo.
The total endowment for the València and València Nova Awards amounts to 138,000 euros, which will be distributed among the winners in the Narrative, Poetry, Essay, and Graphic Novel categories, in both Spanish and Valencian. The prize amounts per category are: 9,000 euros for poetry, 15,000 euros for narrative, 12,000 euros for graphic novel, and 15,000 euros for essay.
