The incident occurred yesterday, around five in the afternoon, in Valencia's Abastos district. A witness observed two men riding a motorcycle on the sidewalk. One of them dismounted, used a hammer to break the jewelry store's display window, and reached inside to steal various pieces of jewelry, which he placed in a backpack. Subsequently, both quickly fled the scene on the motorcycle.
The witness, who was riding an electric bicycle, followed the suspects and saw them abandon the motorcycle between some containers, discarding their helmets and clothing. After alerting the CIMACC 091 control room, officers from the Immediate Criminal Response Group (GRIC) contacted him for more information. Following several searches in the area, police located the suspects in a hospitality establishment, where they were intercepted.
During the security search, numerous stolen jewelry pieces, the hammer used to break the display window, and two cylindrical display stands were recovered, all found inside a backpack. The helmets and clothing used during the robbery, which had been discarded in public during their escape, were also recovered.
The motorcycle used for the escape was reported stolen in the town of Xirivella. Furthermore, the license plate it bore did not correspond to the vehicle but to another that had been permanently deregistered since 2024. The detainees are awaiting judicial disposition as alleged perpetrators of robbery with force, as well as theft and unauthorized use of a vehicle, and document forgery.
