Torrent's Holy Week, recognized as a Festival of Regional Tourist Interest, experiences its most festive and crowded moment with the Glorious Encounter. This act, which breaks with the solemnity of previous days, can be followed from 10 AM on Easter Sunday.
The television broadcast will feature commentary by Chus Lacort and the collaboration of Jesús Peris, a member of Torrent's Holy Week Brotherhoods, and Cristina Peris, who was Queen of the Encounter 2018. The event begins in Torrent's Plaza Mayor and its climax is the symbolic embrace between the Resurrected Christ and the Virgin Mary, representing the joy of Easter.
At that moment, everyone awaits one of the most emotional and symbolic moments: the opening of the giant Artichoke from which thousands of 'alleluias' fall, and the confreres remove the pointed hoods that have hidden their faces during all the processions.
Another prominent element is the presence of the Queen of the Encounter, a figure embodying the vicereine Germana de Foix. This year, this role will be played by Inmaculada Puchades Vallejo, accompanied by her chambermaids Marta Furió and Alexa Company, wearing an impressive cape dress.
In addition to the Glorious Encounter, À Punt will also offer the Easter Mass from the Parish of the Assumption of Torrent at 11 AM. Coverage of Holy Week in the Valencian Community can be followed daily on À Punt's news programs and on its YouTube channel, as well as on demand on its website.
