The University of Valencia will hold an event next Friday, May 22, at the Centre Cultural La Nau to commemorate the 85th anniversary of the execution of rector Joan Baptista Peset Aleixandre.

The meeting, which will bring together institutional and academic representatives, seeks to vindicate the democratic memory and scientific work of one of the most relevant figures of 20th-century Valencian medicine. The program will include the reading of a poem and a musical performance by the Quartet de Corda de l'Orquestra Filharmònica de la Universitat de València.
In addition to the in-person event, the institution has prepared a special monograph that delves into the personal, scientific, and documentary facets of the man who was rector between 1932 and 1934. This content includes an audiovisual biography and relevant documents regarding the judicial process he suffered after the Civil War.
The collected material also highlights the Fons Peset, a collection of more than 5,000 volumes donated by the family to the university in 1982. Currently, this legacy is preserved at the Institut Interuniversitari López Piñero, located in the Palau de Cerveró.
