The piece, inspired by the micro-universe generated in school playgrounds, seeks to reflect the intensity of children's experiences, from friendships to conflicts, without minimizing their importance.
“"We have discovered that it is a universe in miniature, where the magnitude of experiences is just as intense as in the outside world; where betrayals are very much betrayals and emotions are very much emotions. Not so much love, because they are not at that point yet."
To document the text, playwright Juli Disla and director Jaume Pérez Roldán conducted a year-long field study. This began at Escola Les Carolines in Picassent and continued at CEIP Les Arenes, in Poblats Marítims of Valencia, and at CEIP Jaime Balmes, in the Ruzafa neighborhood. During this period, they interviewed students and teachers to gather anecdotes and understand the dynamics of relationships among children.
The play is structured around three main protagonists: the hooded child, the child with the big sandwich, and the child in tights, whose stories intertwine. Additionally, «small stories» are added with specific momentary characters that bring diversity to the narrative.
The set design, by Blanca Añon, emulates a school playground with a goalpost and bleachers, integrating the audience into the space. The musical and sound proposal, by Carles Salvador, and the lighting by Marc Gonzalo, seek to create a poetic atmosphere that reflects the magic and realism of the playground's hustle and bustle.
Actors Manu Canchal and Tània Fortea act as narrators, investigating and contrasting the daily stories that occur during recess. The play does not seek to represent conflicts such as school bullying, but rather focuses on the power of emotions and relationships generated in this space, suggesting that adults should observe more closely the authentic way younger generations relate to each other.
