Teachers' unions STEPV, CCOO, and UGT are attending a negotiation meeting with the Ministry of Education aiming to reach an agreement to call off the indefinite strike and achieve improvements for educators.

The teachers' unions STEPV, CCOO, and UGT have attended the new negotiation table with the Ministry of Education with the will to "try to reach an agreement" that allows for the indefinite strike in Valencian public education to be called off and "desire to achieve improvements that come closer to the expectations" of the teaching staff. "We come to open windows on all points. It is possible," stated the union representatives upon arrival at the department's facilities in Campanar, where they were summoned at 6:00 PM by the administration.
This meeting takes place after the results of a survey conducted by these three unions among their members were released last Saturday, showing that 80% are in favor of continuing the indefinite strike -- the majority, 54%, leaning towards occasional mobilizations -- and only approve the point on reducing bureaucratic workload.
The coordinator of Union Action for STEPV, Marc Candela, told the media that they are "eager to reopen the document because there is still room for negotiation." "There are loose ends that should be tied up today; we hope the Conselleria will be receptive to reach an agreement as close as possible to the teaching staff's will," he asserted.
Likewise, the spokesperson for the majority union stressed that "the indefinite strike continues, remodeled, but it continues, and it is very clear that the teaching staff wants to continue the fight."
From CCOO, the general secretary of Education, Xelo Valls, defended: "We come to open windows on each of the negotiation points. On Friday, we achieved a text that refocuses the basic negotiation on a framework agreement of fundamental issues, which is what we want. The development of the points will come later. It is possible; we have seen it done elsewhere."
When asked about the "red lines" and demands of these organizations, she indicated that they want an improvement in the remuneration part that would mean a raise of about 300 euros -- it should be remembered that the agreement signed by the other two unions, ANPE and CSIF, is for 200 until 2028. They also demand improvements in ratios, staffing, vocational training (FP), and Adult Education.
For her part, the head of Education at UGT PV, Maite Tarazona, elaborated on her aspiration to continue negotiating and highlighted that they are attending the meeting "with contributions," as, with the exception of the bureaucracy block, in the rest "there are things to perfect and we are still very far from the objectives we need."
On the occasion of the meeting, a concentration of teachers in green protest t-shirts, singing 'Moixeranga' and with 'Bella Ciao' in the background, is taking place again outside the Conselleria. Attendees are chanting slogans demanding the resignation of the Minister of Education, Carmen Ortí, and calling for the enclosure's barrier to be opened.
On the banners they are displaying, slogans can be read such as '18 months, buildings damaged now', 'Burned-out teachers, extinguished future', 'Carmen, are you a minister or wearing a costume', 'The patience of teachers in 2026 has reached its limit', or 'Mari Carmen, do you remember you were a teacher?'.
