The city of Valencia is preparing for a new edition of TastArròs, an event established as one of the most prominent dedicated to rice. During the weekend of April 25 and 26, 2026, the City Hall Square will become a meeting point for rice culture, aiming to promote this fundamental ingredient of Valencian identity.
Driven by the Regulatory Council of the D.O. Arròs de València, in collaboration with the Generalitat Valenciana and the Ajuntament de València, this free admission event seeks to bring rice closer to the general public and highlight the tradition, cultivation, innovation, and cuisine surrounding it. The proposal combines gastronomy, education, and a festive atmosphere in the heart of the Valencian capital.
One of the main attractions of TastArròs 2026 will be the opportunity to taste various rice dishes prepared by chefs and restaurants from the capital and other Valencian regions. Attendees can sample rice dishes made with varieties protected by the Designation of Origin (bomba, sénia, and albufera) at popular prices, which in previous editions were around 4 or 5 euros per serving. There will also be a beverage area to complement the tastings.
Beyond the gastronomic aspect, TastArròs 2026 will offer a varied program for all audiences, with a prominent role for live cooking. In the “TastArròs T’Ensenya” space, professionals will conduct live culinary demonstrations, sharing techniques, recipes, and tips about rice. Additionally, workshops, educational activities, and competitions will be organized, including proposals for young culinary talents.
One of the most striking novelties will be the installation of a large urban 'sequer', a recreation of traditional drying areas where thousands of kilos of rice will be spread out. This initiative will allow the public to learn firsthand about the grain drying process, bringing an essential part of the agricultural work linked to rice closer to them. The program will be completed with live musical performances and a lively atmosphere throughout the weekend.
