Peñín prevailed over candidacies led by José María Tomás Llavador and Maite Broseta Palanca. The new president is well-acquainted with the CTAV's internal workings, having served on the last two governing boards: first as a representative during Mariano Bolant's term and later as secretary under Marina Sender.
He is an architect from the Higher Technical School of Architecture of Valencia since 1999 and an associate professor in the Department of Architectural Projects at the Polytechnic University of Valencia (UPV) for two decades. His professional career includes developing residential projects and various typologies, both in the Valencian Community and internationally, with work completed in cities such as Lyon and Toulouse.
Furthermore, he possesses significant experience within the institution, having been responsible for the CTAV's Culture area since 2014, alongside his role as secretary of the collegiate body. His candidacy, under the slogan 'CTAV networked', advocated for a strategic vision focused on consolidating recent advancements, promoting a collaborative collegial model that is open to everyone and demonstrably sound. His proposal prioritized defending the profession, advocating for direct, networked communication with public administrations, the promotion of a best practices manual for contracting, the publication of cost estimation tools, and a dedicated communication campaign to position and dignify the collective's work.
He also proposed the creation of a new network of services for members, notably the establishment of an ECUV (Urbanistic Collaborating Entity) within the CTAV to expedite urban planning license procedures, along with the development of new professional support tools, such as project repositories and assistance manuals.
The new Governing Board will include Elena Azcárraga as secretary, Salvador López as treasurer, and Marina Bernardo, Mar Alonso, and Macarena Gea as representatives. The team comprises professionals from independent practice, academia, and public administration, forming a candidacy that championed professional diversity as one of its core values.
The inauguration will take place on Wednesday, May 27th, during the Ordinary Assembly of the College of Architects of Valencia.
