The regional secretary of Health, Asunción Perales, has inaugurated the 38th National Congress of the Spanish Society of Medical Radiology in Valencia. The event brings together over 2,500 professionals to analyze the latest advances in diagnostic imaging.
The congress, held at the Palacio de Congresos until May 23rd, addresses the impact of artificial intelligence, precision medicine, and new imaging techniques on current clinical practice.
During the inauguration, Perales pointed out that radiology has evolved from a support specialty to a central piece in clinical decision-making, emphasizing that medicine today is inseparable from medical imaging. The regional official highlighted that this specialty allows for earlier detection, better decisions, and more precise treatments, valuing its role in transforming the healthcare system through the incorporation of new technologies.
In this regard, she emphasized the influence of artificial intelligence, advanced data analysis, and precision medicine on the evolution of disease diagnosis and treatment. Perales also defended the human component of radiology, remarking that technology expands capabilities, but it is professionals who provide clinical judgment and quality of care.
The regional secretary reiterated the Conselleria de Sanitat's commitment to evidence-based medicine, continuous training, and the responsible incorporation of technological innovations.
Also participating in the event were representatives from the Spanish Society of Medical Radiology and the congress's scientific and organizing committee, along with the councilor for Institutional Relations of the València City Council.
The scientific program includes debates on artificial intelligence applied to diagnosis, precision medicine, and the use of magnetic resonance imaging for early detection of neurological complications in oncological and transplant patients.
Perales concluded that such meetings are a guarantee for the future of the healthcare system and encouraged professionals to use the congress as a space for learning, collaboration, and the promotion of medical excellence.
