Teachers' unions STEPV, CSIF, CCOO, and UGT have called for new demonstrations next week in València, Alicante, and Castelló, continuing the indefinite strike in public non-university education.

The unions STEPV, CSIF, CCOO, and UGT have announced new mobilizations for the upcoming week. On Monday, starting at 3 PM, a demonstration will take place at the headquarters of the Conselleria de Educación (Ministry of Education) in València. On Friday, at 12 PM, the protest will move to the Hacienda (Treasury) headquarters.
These calls follow a "historic" green wave of teachers that filled the center of València last Friday, marking the end of the first week of an indefinite strike. The unions described the protest as "brutal, historic, and overwhelming," without providing participation figures, while the Government Delegation estimated over 35,000 attendees.
The actions also include demonstrations in Alicante (Monday, 12 PM, steps of IES Jorge Juan) and in Castelló de la Plana (Monday, 11 AM, headquarters of the Territorial Directorate of Education). On Tuesday, "decentralized actions in different towns and regions" of the Valencian Community are planned.
On Wednesday, from 11 AM to 8 PM, unions are encouraging "everyone" to come to the Conselleria de Educación on Avenida Campanar in València, where "round tables, performances, and assemblies" will be held. For Thursday, a concentration is called for 10 AM near Les Corts (Valencian Parliament) in València, as well as at the Generalitat delegations in Alicante (Brujas street) and Castelló (Casa dels Caragols), coinciding with the Plenary Session of Les Corts.
Finally, on Friday, at 12 PM, a demonstration will depart from the Conselleria de Hacienda and end at Plaza Manises, in front of the Palau de la Generalitat. In Alicante and Castelló de la Plana, there will also be concentrations at the Treasury Delegations.
The indefinite strike began after weeks of disagreement between the administration and teachers' unions, who accuse the Conselleria de Educación of "mocking" the collective and refusing "real negotiation." The demands include salary improvements, as Valencian professionals are at the bottom of salary scales in Spain and their regional salary has not been updated since 2010. They also call for actions on infrastructure, reduced class sizes, and protection of the Valencian language.
In the Sectoral Table meeting last Thursday, the unions warned that understanding with the Conselleria de Educación is "still far off," as the preliminary agreement presented does not meet their demands "even by 50%." The document includes no proposal for salary increases, a point that organizations demand be specified in the new negotiation table scheduled for next Monday, May 18th.
For their part, the Director General of Teaching Staff, Pablo Ortega, conveyed "serenity" and "dialogue," stating that "none of the issues raised by the unions are outside the scope of negotiation." The Conselleria de Educación, Cultura y Universidades "respects" the right to strike and demonstrate, and maintains its position to "continue negotiating before, during, and after this day of mobilization."
