Thousands of workers took to the streets of València this May Day 2026, responding to the call from the Local Federation of CGT València for an alternative march.

The mobilization, under the slogan “Against wars and exploitation, for rights and social justice,” began with a performance that highlighted the link between armed conflicts and job insecurity. This demonstration, which CGT has organized for over 15 years as an alternative to those by CCOO and UGT, aims to distance itself from a unionism that, according to the organization, has conceded collective rights.

"Social justice is in grave danger and we must continue fighting, with even greater force, against the barbarity that prevails in the world. This new May Day 2026, CGT has once again taken to the streets to demand rights and social justice, to ask for a more egalitarian and just world, a society free from wars and exploitation."

During the march, which started in Plaza de San Agustín and went through the historic center of the capital, several manifestos were read to highlight the union and social struggles in which CGT has been involved over the past year. These include the demands of teachers, home care workers, and the Valencian Social Agreement.
The march culminated in Plaza Músico López Chávarri, in the Carmen neighborhood of the Ciutat Vella district, with speeches and concerts by groups such as Navajazo por un Chándal, Orkesta Paraíso, and Agua Bendita. Various affiliated organizations and collectives also joined the CGT València call, including the Centro Social Okupado Anarquista (CSOA) l'Horta, Antimilitaristas MOC, BDS País Valencià, Benimaclet con Palestina, Futuro Vegetal, the Local Emergency and Reconstruction Committees, the Koordinadora de Kolectius del Parke Alcosa, Nave Albal, and PAH València.

"The capital that devastates and destroys everything has taken the lives of thousands of workers, children, and civilians, oblivious to the purely economic decisions of egomaniacs, cynics, and evil people who only look out for their own interests. Our obligation is to continue organizing, to continue fighting."
