Survival expert Adrián de la Cruz has shared a surprising trick: transforming a sardine can into an emergency stove, ideal for natural situations without light.

Adrián de la Cruz, known for his YouTube channel Supervivencia de Lobo Nómada, has revealed a key tip for hikers and nature lovers. According to the expert, a simple sardine can could be the differentiating factor between a safe outing and a dangerous one in natural environments.
The content creator explains that, using a multi-tool, holes can be made in the can to insert a type of wick, such as a piece of paper. Then, with a simple lighter or ferrocerium rod, the can's contents, usually oil, are ignited.
This improvised stove, thanks to the oil, can last for several hours, providing enough light and heat to warm food or simply illuminate the surroundings. De la Cruz emphasizes that this solution is particularly useful if a headlamp or flashlight battery runs out.
The expert advises, in case of losing light in the middle of the woods, especially in areas like the Sierra de Madrid with hazardous terrain, to stay put to avoid accidents. The sardine can stove is presented as a safer and more durable alternative to a candle, as it is not easily extinguished by wind.
