This new payment, arriving in the coming days, adds to the 100 million euros previously received as an advance. The total European assistance amounts to 946 million euros, aimed at mitigating the damage caused by the October 2024 floods.
The resources can be used to retroactively finance actions, including the repair of critical infrastructure such as bridges, roads, and electricity or water supply networks. Additionally, the service will cover temporary housing expenses for evacuated people and environmental cleanup and decontamination operations.
Furthermore, the aid also serves to strengthen flood prevention systems, such as drainage networks and alert mechanisms, while contributing to the preservation of the region's cultural heritage.
“"The funding we have just approved will help rebuild what the disaster destroyed. It is a concrete sign of EU solidarity with our Spanish friends."
