A spokesperson for the STEPV union has expressed their conviction that the education strike will see massive participation. This initial assessment was made at the Lluís Vives institute in València, where the convening unions evaluated the start of the mobilizations. Thanks to the anticipated success, the union believes that the Generalitat must be compelled to reconvene the unions for negotiations, but that these must be "real and effective".
“"Until we have a proposal on all issues, we will not enter into negotiations."
Beyond salary improvements for teachers, the union has demanded reduced class sizes, less bureaucracy, improved educational infrastructure, the reinstatement of cut staff, and the repeal of the law that marginalizes Valencian in education, which they refer to as the "misnamed freedom of education law".
Regarding the minimum services for second-year baccalaureate students, which the unions have appealed against, the spokesperson noted that the ministry wants to blame the unions for putting students in a difficult situation. They responded that "the students were already in a difficult situation. There was already a lack of resources, a lack of teachers, a lack of everything".
