Under this year's theme proposed by the International Council of Museums (ICOM), “Museums uniting a divided world”, cultural spaces such as the Centre del Carme, the Museum of Fine Arts of Valencia, the IVAM, the Monumental Complex of Sagunto, and the Museu de la Valltorta have prepared special activities. The aim is to bring heritage and culture closer to all audiences.
The program will include creative workshops, concerts, guided tours, dance, cinema, heritage routes, participatory proposals, and family activities. These will take place over several days to mark both International Museum Day and the European Night of Museums.
The Centre del Carme Cultura Contemporània (CCCC) in Valencia celebrates IMD and the European Night of Museums from May 12 to 18 with a program for all audiences. Among the highlights is the inauguration, on May 15, of the exhibition ‘Genealogies del territori’, which brings together works by 60 artists affected by the DANA. Additionally, on May 16, the center will host the contemporary dance performance ‘EVA’, by the Bucles company.
The Museum of Fine Arts of Valencia joins the IMD celebration from May 14 to 18 with special visits, musical performances, dance, and activities for all audiences. Among the most notable proposals are special visits to the museum's warehouses and restoration workshops, as well as the collaborative activity ‘Romero de Torres x 100’, led by an artist, which will recreate the work ‘Samaritanas’.
The Institut Valencià d’Art Modern (IVAM) has prepared a special program from May 16 to 24 that will combine music, cinema, literature, guided tours, and workshops. On the occasion of the European Night of Museums, May 16 will feature a day of activities for diverse audiences, including solar observation proposals and historical tours. Many of these activities require prior reservation, even if they are free.
