Valencian Community Surpasses 77,500 Blood Donations This Year

The province of Castellón has registered 7,776 blood units in the early months of the year, adding to the 77,502 across the Valencian Community, with special thanks to 1,387 new donors.

The Transfusion Center of the Valencian Community has reported on blood donations during the initial months of the year, recording a total of 77,502 units across the region. Of these, the province of Castellón contributes 7,776, a figure that significantly aids in maintaining the necessary blood reserves in hospitals.
Furthermore, Castellón has welcomed 1,387 new donors, a statistic reflecting growing citizen involvement and crucial for the generational renewal of the donation system. By province, Valencia leads with 41,894 units, followed by Alicante with 27,832.
The Minister of Health, Marciano Gómez, expressed gratitude for the donors' generosity, emphasizing that each contribution saves lives and ensures healthcare for patients. He stressed the importance of maintaining the donation pace during the summer, as hospital needs are constant throughout the year.
So far this year, nearly 7,951 individuals have made their first donation in the Valencian Community, confirming the increasing interest in participating in this solidarity network. Additionally, 4,696 apheresis units (plasma and platelets) have been registered from over 3,200 donors, a growing modality for specific medical treatments.
The regional donation system concluded 2025 with 175,978 blood units, of which 18,158 came from the province of Castellón, solidifying its role within the Valencian Community.
