The VI International Poetry Prize Fundación Francisco Brines has this year recognized the works 'En la noche mediante' by Juan Antonio Bernier in Spanish and 'Zones Privades' by Joan Carles González Pujalte in Valencian, with a jury highlighting the quality of the poetry collections.

The city of Valencia was the setting where the verdict of the VI International Poetry Prize Fundación Francisco Brines was announced. Writers Juan Antonio Bernier and Joan Carles González Pujalte have been awarded in the Spanish and Valencian categories, respectively, recognizing the quality of their poetic works.
The winning work in Spanish, titled 'En la noche mediante', was highlighted by the jury for its "musicality, precision, and transparency of its word", as well as for "findings of its own language" that shine with "simplicity, but with forcefulness". The jury, composed of Vicente Gallego, Juan Pablo Zapater, Henry Alexander Gómez (winner of the previous edition), and Silvia Pratdesaba, emphasized that it is a book that "deviates from the usual" and reveals a poet "completely master of his craft".
Juan Antonio Bernier (Córdoba, 1976) is a professor, translator, and cultural manager. His poetic trajectory includes titles such as 'La costa de los sueños' (1998), 'Así procede el pájaro' (2004, Ojo Crítico de Poesía Prize), 'Árboles con tronco pintado de blanco' (2011), and 'Fruto previo' (2021), among others. He has also distinguished himself as a translator and researcher, publishing works by Giorgio Caproni, Juan Bernier, and Danila Stoyánova. Bernier also received the National Prize for the Diffusion of Reading for his work as director of the "Cosmopoética" festival.
In the Valencian category, the prize has gone to the poetry collection 'Zones Privades'. The jury, composed of Begonya Pozo, Lluís Roda, Víctor Filgueira Meseres (previous winner), and Manuel Borrás, has valued "the linguistic command" and "the presence of a well-integrated cultural universe" in the work, which invites readers to journey through a world created with "fine sensitivity".
Joan Carles González Pujalte (Mataró, 1963), a graduate in Art History, has a long list of awards in poetry and narrative. He has published nearly twenty books since 'Nicotina als llavis' (1998) to 'L'Est' (2016, Premi de poesia Joan Perucho Vila d'Ascó) and 'Nocturn sense acordions' (2017, Premi Manel Garcia Grau de poesia).
The Fundación Francisco Brines has congratulated both winners and announced that it expects to present both books once published by the prestigious publishing house Pre-textos, as stipulated by the founder, Francisco Brines.
