Hotel stays: 6.6% growth in May

The Valencian Community records 12 months of tourism growth, with a 4.29% increase in travelers.

Hotel overnight stays in the Valencian Community saw a 6.6% increase in May compared to the previous year, reaching 3,072,623, marking 12 consecutive months of growth.

According to data from the National Statistics Institute (INE), May saw a 4.29% rise in the number of tourists staying in the region's hotels, totaling 979,354 travelers. Of these, 487,333 were residents of Spain (49.76%) and 492,021 were foreigners (50.24%). Resident travelers increased by 1%, while foreign travelers rose by 7.8%.
Of the total overnight stays, 1,321,161 were by residents of Spain (43%), and 1,751,462 by residents from abroad (57%). The average daily rate per room increased by 4.7% year-on-year, standing at 100.83 euros, while general prices rose by 7.96%.
Hotel occupancy in the Valencian Community reached 63.99% in May. The sector employed 19,311 people, a 0.6% increase from the previous year. Compared to other autonomous communities, the Balearic Islands led in occupancy per bed (73.46%), followed by the Canary Islands (64.98%) and the Valencian Community (63.99%). Castilla-La Mancha (39.88%), Asturias (41.5%), and Extremadura (42.09%) recorded the lowest rates.
Nationally, the Balearic Islands accounted for the largest percentage of overnight stays (23.35%), along with Catalonia (17%) and Andalusia (15.92%).
