The NASCAR Valencia Fest delivered an exciting weekend of motorsport, with a large crowd filling the circuit's grandstands. The main race was characterized by constant leadership changes and several on-track incidents, maintaining suspense until the very end.
The race began with Gianmarco Ercoli defending his pole position, but an accident led to a restart that completely changed the script. Young French driver Paul Jouffreau then took the lead and managed to open a gap, but a blowout of his front right tire ten laps from the end took him out of contention for the win.
After a brief stint by Jordan O’Brien in first place, Ghirelli seized the opportunity to move to the front and held the lead until crossing the finish line. The podium was completed by Garret Lowe and Nelson Piquet Jr., who achieved a third-place finish in his European competition debut.
More than 22,000 spectators filled the Ricardo Tormo Circuit over the weekend, solidifying the event as a favorite among Valencian fans.
In the Open category, Swiss driver Thomas Toffel had a perfect weekend, securing a double victory behind the wheel of his Chevrolet Camaro. The event also featured the presence of the Valencia CF footballer, who served as Grand Marshall and gave the starting command with the traditional “¡Drivers, start your engines!”.
The motorsport weekend concluded with the Spanish Truck Racing Championship, where Portuguese driver Eduardo José Rodrigues dominated, achieving four victories. In addition to the competition, the event had a strong charitable component. The Solidaridad Sobre Ruedas Foundation delivered eight new vehicles to those affected by the DANA storm, reaching 580 since the campaign's inception. The entity also received a check for 22,072 euros from MT Helmets, from the sale of a solidarity helmet featuring the circuit's image.
The Ricardo Tormo Circuit is already preparing for its next event, which will be on May 16 with the third edition of the Gran Premio Velas Maratón, a double running event that will allow participants to run on the track at dusk.
