The Generalitat Valenciana has granted the declaration of local tourist interest to the Moors and Christians Festival of Marítim in València, recognizing its special cultural and traditional relevance.

The resolution, signed by the Minister of Industry, Tourism, Innovation and Commerce, Marián Cano, will soon be published in the Official Gazette of the Generalitat Valenciana (DOGV). The application, submitted by the Agrupación de Moros y Cristianos Marítim on February 3, has been favorably resolved after reviewing the relevant documentation.

"Our festivals are much more than celebrations: they are the materialization of our identity, the reflection of our history and the essence of what we are as a destination."

Israel Martínez · Director General of Tourism
This distinction is awarded to festivals that offer «special relevance» from a tourist perspective and represent «an appreciation of Valencian popular culture and traditions». The Director General of Tourism, Israel Martínez, congratulated the festive entity and the city of València for the «impetus» of the celebration.
Martínez emphasized the commitment of Turisme Comunitat Valenciana and the Generalitat to the Valencian festive world, working with municipalities and representative entities to promote the declaration of these celebrations as tourist interest events, give them visibility, and preserve these cultural manifestations.
In the Comunitat Valenciana, there are more than 500 festivals declared of tourist interest. In the last year alone, in 2025, the current Consell declared 24 festivals of interest.
