Ens Uneix and Unió Municipalista have set up a tent in València's Pinazo square this weekend to collect signatures for a Popular Legislative Initiative aimed at reforming the Valencian Electoral Law.

The protest campaign, whose central objective is the reform of the Valencian Electoral Law, has arrived in the city of València. The regionalist party has installed an information tent in the central Pinazo square to collect the necessary signatures to promote a Popular Legislative Initiative (ILP) that seeks to make the representation system more plural and accessible.
The meeting point was operational on Friday, April 17, in the afternoon, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., and continued its activity on Saturday, April 18, in the morning, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. The vice president of the Diputación de València and spokesperson for Ens Uneix, Natalia Enguix, led the action on Friday to directly explain to passers-by the details of a proposal she considers vital to improve democratic quality.

Regulatory reform is a necessary tool to reduce political disaffection and prevent institutional debate from focusing on partisan gain from crises instead of focusing on improving people's lives.

The legislative initiative proposes two fundamental changes to the current regulations. On the one hand, it proposes reducing the minimum threshold for parliamentary representation from 5% to 3% of valid votes. On the other hand, it requests that the vote count be carried out at the provincial level instead of the autonomous community level. With the reform, the threshold would drop to approximately 75,000 votes, making it easier for a wider range of citizen sensibilities to have a voice in institutions.
This new event in the Valencian capital joins the intense campaign that has been carried out in recent months in various municipalities throughout the territory through the parties integrated into the Unió Municipalista. The process is already in an advanced phase, as the legal minimum of 10,000 signatures required for its processing has been exceeded. The proposal has had the support of relevant figures in Valencian politics such as Mónica Oltra Jarque and Rosa Pérez Garijo.
