The Ombudsman has criticized the València City Council's refusal to detail the reasons why the ticket sales data for the Concerts de Vivers are considered confidential. The body questions whether this information was declared sensitive in the contracts with the promoting companies.
In a resolution dated June 17, the Valencian ombudsman recalls that the obligation of private companies contracting with public administration is not limited solely to the data in the contracting file, according to Article 5 of Law 1/2022 on transparency. Therefore, it recommends providing all information on tickets sold, their prices, and the promoting companies for each concert.
From Compromís, councilor Pere Fuset has welcomed the resolution, stating that Catalá's government cannot hide the sales of a music cycle that depends on ticket sales. According to Fuset, this opacity conceals the cycle's failure, which has lost a third of its audience in two years, dropping from over 55,000 to just over 38,000 attendees.
Fuset points out that the cancellation of a concert due to the sale of only 100 tickets confirms a failed model, recalling previous cancellations. He argues that the change in model promoted by PP and VOX has replaced a plural model with a sectarian one that has censored Valencian music and alienated loyal audiences.
The councilor criticizes the contradiction between the image of "València Music City" and the reality of a declining festival, with fewer attendees, canceled concerts, and hidden data. Compromís demands immediate compliance with the Ombudsman's resolution and a change in model that restores musical plurality and support for Valencian culture.
