The Socialist Municipal Group of Ontinyent has submitted a motion for the City Council to evaluate the compliance of the Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan (PMUS) and implement pending actions.

The Socialist Municipal Group of Ontinyent has submitted a motion for the City Council to "evaluate the degree of compliance with the Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan (PMUS) and implement the actions that remain pending ten years after its approval".
From the PSPV, they recall that "the PMUS was born with the objective of improving the city's mobility, reducing dependence on private vehicles, and promoting more sustainable transport methods". However, they consider that "many of the planned measures have not been executed or have been paralyzed over the years".
The socialists point out "the lack of efficient public transport connections to some neighborhoods, dispersed residential areas, and industrial estates. A situation that forces many residents to use their cars to get to their workplaces, educational centers, or public services".

"Ten years after the plan's approval, it is necessary to take stock and act. Ontinyent has changed, and mobility needs have also changed. We cannot continue with a plan that on paper proposes solutions but is not being fully developed in practice"

They argue that "the motion also focuses on new challenges that have arisen in the last decade, such as the increased use of electric scooters and other personal mobility vehicles, the need to strengthen connections with other municipalities in the region, and the new mobility demands arising from the growth of the University Campus".
Therefore, the PSPV proposes that "the City Council annually prepare and publish a report on the degree of compliance with the PMUS, as established by regional legislation, and present a concrete plan to develop the pending actions".
"Among the proposed measures are the improvement of public transport lines and frequencies, the expansion of routes to industrial estates and peripheral areas, the adaptation of the city to the safe use of electric scooters and bicycles, as well as the extension of the public bicycle system to urbanizations and industrial areas", they declare.
Likewise, the socialists demand "greater transparency in mobility policies and the opening of a citizen participation process in which residents, merchants, students, and users of the University Campus can intervene to define future priorities".

"A modern city needs mobility designed for people. We want Ontinyent to be a more accessible, better-connected city with real alternatives to the use of private vehicles"
