The march will depart at 6:00 PM from Plaça de Sant Agustí and will go through the streets of Xàtiva, Colón, Porta de la Mar, the Palau de Justicia, and the streets of la Pau and Sant Vicent, concluding at the Plaça de l'Ajuntament.
This mobilization is part of the protest actions and the indefinite strike by teachers, which has been ongoing since May 11th, to demand "real" measures from the Generalitat that guarantee "public and quality" education and "dignify" teaching work.
In the last negotiation meeting on Wednesday, the Minister of Education, Carmen Ortí, and her team left the meeting after twelve minutes, due to the refusal of teacher representatives to sign the agreement offered by the regional administration to end the strike.
The unions presented the minister with an online survey in which 78% of voters were against Education's latest offer, considering the proposals "insufficient." They also conveyed their willingness to continue negotiating another document that would incorporate improvements in class sizes, teacher salaries, and staff increases.
This Thursday, the president of the Generalitat, Juanfran Pérez Llorca, assured that the Valencian government will resolve the educational conflict, as "there is a will" to do so, although he defended the need for both parties to talk and listen to reach an agreement.
In the previous teacher demonstration, held in Valencia on May 15th, more than 35,000 people participated. Mobilizations have continued throughout the Comunitat Valenciana with gatherings in educational centers, assemblies, and protests in front of regional institutions.
