Following the Corpus Christi celebrations, including the procession and the Custodia through Cavallers street, the Plaza de la Virgen has returned to its usual state, now marked by the teachers' encampment. The protest, part of the ongoing educational strike, enters its fifth consecutive week. Last Thursday, teachers moved their tents to a side of the square, near the Turia fountain, to accommodate the "Festa Grossa" events. Once these concluded, they have resumed occupying the center of the prominent plaza.
During the passage of the Custodia, the teachers maintained silence but held up signs with messages directed at the authorities present, including Vice President Susana Camarero, Minister Vicente Martínez Mus, Mayor Mª José Catalá, and the President of the Corts, Llanos Masó. A protest also took place at the main entrance of the Mercado Central.
Negotiations between the Conselleria d'Educació and the unions continue this Monday at 10 a.m., aiming to work on the document presented on Friday. Starting at 9:30 a.m., teachers will gather in front of the building on Campanar avenue. Additionally, a demonstration is scheduled for 7 a.m. in the industrial estate La Reva in Riba-roja de Túria.
The STEPV union published an analysis on Sunday of the offer presented by the Conselleria last Friday, allowing teachers to evaluate whether the progress made between the May 14th and June 5th documents "is sufficient." The union ironically recalled that Friday's negotiation was broadcast live, allowing observers to "see the conselleria's negotiation techniques." STEPV notes that Education proposed not signing a global agreement if it facilitated partial agreements, and that teachers will have to vote on specific points and the continuation of the mobilizations.
Late in the afternoon, CCOO and UGT joined STEPV's criticism, accusing Education of "deliberately transforming the June 5th negotiation table into a political propaganda operation." They stated that their representatives warned "from the outset that the conselleria was proposing a trap" in which they did not wish to participate.
