The National Police have dismantled a juvenile criminal group in Valencia dedicated to committing violent robberies using electric scooters in the Tránsitos district. The operation resulted in the arrest of seven youths, six of them minors, who allegedly selected particularly vulnerable victims, such as the elderly and minors, to assault them suddenly and violently from behind before fleeing at high speed.
The investigation began following a series of reports of violent robberies. Officers detected a common pattern: the perpetrators were young, approached on electric scooters, acted with their heads covered to hinder identification, and quickly escaped the scene, complicating subsequent police searches.
According to the National Police, the group had refined its criminal technique, meticulously choosing vulnerable victims like the elderly and minors, from whom they stole valuables such as jewelry, money, or mobile phones. The method used minimized the victims' reaction time and made it difficult to provide an accurate physical description of the perpetrators.
The investigation also helped clarify an episode of particular gravity where three members of the group used wooden sticks to assault a man. The victim sustained numerous blows and kicks to his body, head, and jaw. As a result, the man had to be hospitalized and underwent surgery for his injuries and fractures. Three of the detainees are now charged with attempted homicide for these acts.
Investigators determined that the suspects had committed similar offenses and used to meet at specific points before going out to commit robberies. Despite the measures taken to conceal their identity, officers managed to fully identify the alleged perpetrators. Finally, a total of seven youths were arrested, six minors and one adult.
After being brought before the Juvenile Prosecutor's Office and the Juvenile Court, the six minors have been ordered into supervised care centers. Investigations remain ongoing.
