The Catalan company Mal Pelo, recognized with the National Dance Award 2002, will be responsible for bringing the festival to a close this April 19 at the Teatre Principal with their work 'We. Nosaltres i els temps'. The piece is inspired by John Berger's poem 'Separation' to delve into themes such as travel, emigration, and the loss of place, focusing on the basic movement of walking.
The regional secretary for Culture, Marta Alonso, will attend the closing ceremony at the Teatre Principal, as well as the shows 'Gush is Great' by Production Xx and 'Oroimen' by Akira Yoshida, which will take place in the morning at the Centre del Carme and Plaza del Mercado, respectively.
The Centre del Carme Cultura Contemporània (CCCC) hosts 'Gush is Great', a proposal by the French company Production Xx. This hypnotic experience, performed by five young people, wanders as an ode to sweet rebellion and the need for reinvention. The international production offers an intense sensory experience, where raw poetry and contemporary tensions are mixed, with objects appearing and being discarded, revealing the absurdity of the world.
The closing day is completed with two proposals that explore the construction of identity from different perspectives. At the Teatre Rialto, Paula Quintana presents her dance solo 'Atlas de anatomía', which combines Afro-Latin influences, Andalusian heritage, and the European present. The piece explores identity and vindicates the periphery from the creator's island condition, accompanied by a live choir of voices.
Finally, the public space of the Plaza del Mercado will be the setting for 'Oroimen' by Akira Yoshida, a scenic reflection on identity. The work shows a character who, having lost contact with reality, seeks to be understood on a commemorative journey through the memory of actions experienced by the hands: touch, youth, love, life, and death.
