The postal company has set up a specific post office box for receiving entries and displays the contest image at its main office in Valencia's City Hall Square, located at number 24.
This competition, promoted by the Lorca Patronage of the Granada Provincial Council, seeks to reclaim the symbolic value of the letter as a form of communication and cultural expression. Correos provides the necessary resources for receiving entries and brings the initiative closer to citizens through its network of offices.
The contest invites individuals over 18 years old to participate with a single original, unpublished, and handwritten letter, written in Spanish and related to the life, work, or cultural legacy of Federico García Lorca. Texts, between 300 and 500 words in length, are submitted anonymously and must be sent in physical format, highlighting the value of handwriting and traditional postal delivery as vehicles for literary creation.
To ensure the anonymity of authors, Correos has set up a specific post office box. Entries must be sent by certified mail to Post Office Box 1898, postal code 18009 in Granada, with the postmark date considered valid. The deadline for submitting originals is June 30, 2026.
In addition to the Valencia office, the contest will also be present in seven other main Correos offices across the country, which display the contest image through totems and informative signage. These include the offices in Granada, Bilbao, Barcelona, A Coruña, Madrid, Málaga, and Seville.
The 1st "Letters to Federico" Literary Contest offers a single prize of 3,500 euros, in addition to the publication of the winning letter by the Lorca Patronage. With its participation in this initiative, Correos reinforces its commitment to culture, literature, and the dissemination of heritage, supporting projects that connect contemporary creation with the traditional use of postal mail and the legacy of one of the most universal figures in Spanish literature.
