The CAX Orientación club excelled in the regional trials that took place last weekend in Teruel, where they obtained a total of three medals. Twenty runners from the Xàtiva club traveled to the Aragonese town to participate in the Teruel City Orienteering Trophy. This event coincided with the second and third stages of the Valencian Community Regional League (LACV).
The trials, which were also valid for the Aragonese League, gathered over 300 orienteers and were organized by the Ibón Orienteering Club. In the Middle Distance event on Saturday afternoon in Fuente Cerrada, a female athlete stood out with a third-place finish in the F-12 category, and in the Open Yellow promotion category, another athlete achieved first place.
The following day, Pinar de Valdelobos hosted the Long Distance race, with wet terrain from the rain and very good temperatures for enjoying the sport of orienteering. On this day, the club added two more medals: a male athlete secured first place in M-14, and the same female athlete from the F-12 category repeated her third-place finish. Other notable results from the day included a male athlete's fourth place in M-12, a female athlete's fifth place in F-14, and a male athlete's eleventh place in the M-45 category.
With these results, CAX Orientación continues to be at the top of the regional standings. The next LACV races will be in May in the Castellón region. Vilafranca will host the Regional Long Distance Orienteering Championship (CAOL) and a Sprint event on May 16 and 17. And by the end of the month, on May 30 and 31, the València Orientación club will organize the Regional Middle Distance Orienteering Championship (CAOM) in Pina de Montalgrao and a Long Distance event in Barracas. For autumn, CAX Orientación will once again organize the CAOS in the La Costera region.
Furthermore, CAX Orientación will start May with a stage of the Spanish Foot Orienteering League (LEOP). Up to three runners from Xàtiva will travel to Portugal to participate in the fifth stage of the LEOP, which takes place in the town of Alcácer do Sal on May 2 and 3. This event, organized by the KOALA club and the Portuguese Orienteering Federation, is an Iberian Championship and counts for both the Portuguese ranking and the LEOP. Currently, the CAX Orientación team is in third place in the First Division of the LEOP, with 3,177 points, which grants them a direct promotion spot to the Honor Division.
