The cultural association Botafocs is organizing the fifth edition of the event 'Per sant Jordi, els dracs a la Plaça i els cabuts també' on April 25, 2026, at Casal Jove del Grau de Castelló, featuring activities for all ages.

The day will begin at 12:00 hours with the display of 'cabuts' (big-headed figures) and 'bestiari' (mythical beasts), square ambiance, workshops, and a publications exhibition. In the afternoon, starting at 18:00 hours, there will be another imagery display, the participation of Felip Kervarec with 'Contes de Foc' (Fire Tales), pyrotechnics workshops, and the 'cabuts' dance. At 19:30 hours, a fire show with dragons and demons will take place in front of Casal Jove.
Active participation from educational centers in Grau de Castelló and their AFAs has been sought. Workshops include decorating the square with Botafocs' bestiary, creating painted and individual dragons, making bookmarks and roses, and fire workshops for children's bestiary and demons. All activities are free until full capacity is reached.
This project was recognized with a Best Award by the Agrupació del Bestiari in 2023. In addition to this event, Botafocs has other activities planned, such as participation in the Nit de l'Art de Castelló on May 9, the XXVI Trobada de Bèsties de Foc in Betxí on May 23, and the Encounter of the Valencian Federation of Nanos i Gegants in Alicante on June 14. They are also organizing the Nit de sant Joan in Grau and the XXIV Trobada de Dimonis for sant Joan and sant Pere.

"Municipal cultural subsidies have not yet been announced, which hinders the proper organization of Botafocs' planned events. Subsidies for cultural programs from 2025 have also not been paid by the Provincial Council. Greater agility in administrative procedures is needed."
