This event, promoted by the Cultural Action Area of the Vice-Rectorate for Art, Science, Society and Technology of the academic institution, was born in April 2006. From its beginnings, PolinizaDOS became a benchmark for its originality and media impact, successfully merging the university world with urban art.
Over its two decades of trajectory, more than 300 artists from over twenty countries have participated in this encounter, including globally renowned figures. In this edition, the festival proposes a reflection on spatiality, seeking to go beyond the mural as a pictorial format and contribute to the construction of a spatial and architectural sense.
To achieve this, an expanded approach from artistic research is proposed, understood as a tool for the configuration of unique spatialities loaded with discursive meaning. PolinizaDOS once again features artists linked to an Ibero-American city, with Lisbon being the guest city on this occasion, represented by the collective Os Espacialistas.
Founded in 2008, the work of Os Espacialistas is articulated from theoretical and practical research on transdisciplinary relationships between art, architecture, and education. Their practice materializes in artistic accompaniment projects in art and architecture works, as well as in their own proposals that include architectural interventions, scenic spaces, photographic essays, performative installations, happenings, and performances.
The exceptional lineup is completed with artists selected through public call: Malditas Ternura, who explores the sensitivity of collective historiographies; Manolo Mesa, focused on the relationship between object and tradition of intimate spaces; Giulio Vesprini, who investigates abstraction through compositions of strong graphic character; Alexandros Simopoulos, whose practice lies between painting and referential conceptualism to space; and Cristina Reyes, who approaches the mural from a narrative and symbolic perspective.
Likewise, the jury has awarded an honorable mention to J. Warx, whose work stands out for its discursive approach to contemporary conjunctures. This artist also participates in the encounter, which once again opens the doors of the Valencian polytechnic to urban art.
