The Villena City Council will present a series of amendment proposals to the Generalitat Valenciana's budgets to boost funding for key educational projects in the city.

Key demands include an initial allocation of 500,000 euros for the project design of a new Professional Music Conservatory, alongside an increase in the regional subsidy for the center's teaching staff salaries.
Villena's mayor, Fulgencio Cerdán, discussed these proposals during a working meeting with socialist deputy in Les Corts Charo Navalón. Cerdán expressed concern over the lack of progress on initiatives dependent on regional funding, noting that many current investments stem from commitments made by the previous government, while other strategic projects remain underfunded.
The mayor highlighted the status of the future CEIP Príncipe Don Juan Manuel school. Although the project is in the drafting phase, the City Council warns that there is no budgetary allocation for the execution of this educational infrastructure, with an estimated investment of around eight million euros.
The primary demand focuses on the construction of a new Professional Music Conservatory, as the current facilities are deemed inadequate for teaching activities. The need for a center adapted to current regulations and the requirements of an education serving not only Villena but also students from surrounding municipalities and neighboring areas is emphasized.
Consequently, the council will request that the regional budgets include a 500,000 euro allocation for the project's design, with the intention that the Generalitat later assumes the construction of the new educational facility.
Furthermore, the City Council seeks an increase in the regional contribution to cover the costs of the Conservatory's teaching staff. Currently, the Generalitat provides approximately 400,000 euros annually, while the total payroll costs reach about 1.2 million euros. The municipal proposal aims to raise this aid to 750,000 euros to alleviate the financial burden on the council.
Additionally, Cerdán has urged the Conselleria to expedite teacher employment lists to prevent staffing shortages, which he indicates are affecting numerous conservatories across the Comunitat Valenciana.
The mayor also expressed his hope that the amendments will receive support from all parliamentary groups and directly appealed to the Popular Party deputy for the constituency, Mari Carmen Martínez Clemor, to back the initiatives related to the new Conservatory.
