The young woman, who aspires to study Physics and specialize in astrophysics, is part of a small group of 40 participants from all over Spain. The selection was made from over 400 applicants, evaluating academic record, motivation, and interest in the space field. Candidates had to submit a video explaining their scientific interests and their proposal as future ambassadors of the AEE.
This program seeks to bring the space experience closer to society and foster scientific and technological vocations among youth. Recently, the selected participants underwent tests at the Space Medicine Instruction Center in Torrejón de Ardoz, where they were subjected to simulators and hypobaric chambers to evaluate their response to flight conditions and lack of oxygen.
The final phase of the program will take place on May 5 and 6 at the San Javier Air Base. There, participants will receive training and fly in an Airbus used for astronaut training by the European Space Agency. During the flight, they will perform parabolic maneuvers that generate brief periods of weightlessness, similar to those experienced in space.
The program will culminate with the participants' appointment as ambassadors of the Spanish Space Agency for one year. During this period, they will contribute to disseminating the value of science and inspiring new generations, becoming a role model for students in Alto Palancia and an example of young talent with projection in the scientific field.
