The municipality of El Toro, located in the Alto Palancia region, has successfully reversed its depopulation trend, setting an ambitious goal to reach 300 inhabitants soon.

The Villa de El Toro, situated on the border with Teruel, has become a clear example of best practices in rural development. After years of population decline, the municipality has managed to change its demographic course.
In 2007, the town recorded 292 inhabitants, the highest figure in the last two decades. However, the population decreased to 239 by 2021. Now, with a clear strategy, the town aims to surpass the 300 resident mark.

"This year we are on track for 300. Exceeding this barrier would be historic news for the locality."

This growth is not accidental but the result of a determined commitment to offering resources and services that facilitate the arrival of new families. These include the school, the auxiliary medical clinic, and sports facilities, along with economic activity primarily linked to the agricultural sector.
One of the clearest indicators of this recovery is its educational center. During the 2024-2025 academic year, the school had 9 students, while currently, the number has doubled, reaching 24 students when including secondary school pupils.

"This academic year, there are twice as many students, 24 if we include secondary school students. This increase is a clear sign that life is returning to the municipality's streets."

Furthermore, El Toro has established itself as an active destination throughout the year, with a dynamism that is key to continuing to attract population and maintain life in its streets.
