The municipality of Benafer has been a key location in the Ineco RuralTIC rural digitalization program, aiming to reduce the digital divide in small towns within the Alto Palancia region.

The town of Benafer recently hosted a day focused on improving the digital skills of its population. This initiative is part of the fourth edition of the Ineco RuralTIC program, promoted by Ineco, which has had a significant presence in the province of Castellón.
Between April 13 and 23, Benafer was the setting for various training sessions, including workshops and individualized advice. These activities attracted around 60 participants, demonstrating the community's interest in acquiring new digital skills.

"Initiatives like RuralTIC are fundamental for improving the digital, social, and economic competencies of the rural population, contributing to population settlement in the territory and the creation of new opportunities in rural areas."

During the day, a representative of the Government visited one of the workshops aimed at the municipality's retired community. There, they were able to observe firsthand the development of the training provided by the program's so-called “digital nomads,” who seek to facilitate access to technology in rural environments.
In the province of Castellón, the program has already visited municipalities such as Xilxes, Torás, Cortes de Arenoso, and Villafranca del Cid. In total, it has accumulated more than 400 attendances and the participation of 19 SMEs in the different editions carried out. The content covered includes online administrative procedures, digital security, electronic banking, digital communication, and the use of social media for municipal revitalization.
The Ineco RuralTIC program, which has already reached over a hundred municipalities across Spain, continues to consolidate itself as a benchmark initiative in the digital transformation of rural areas. It promotes collaboration between volunteer professionals and small municipalities to reduce inequalities and foster sustainable development.
