The visit, which included the participation of representatives and deputies from the PSPV-PSOE, highlighted the need to promote proposals that guarantee a dignified, autonomous, and accompanied life for older people. From Montanejos, experiences and services already implemented in the municipality were shared, such as brain injury care, on-demand taxi service, and the retiree's dining room, with the aim that they can serve as a reference for the development of this project.
From the municipal sphere, it is emphasized that the experience accumulated in recent years can contribute to the design of community care models, especially in inland areas where population aging and lack of resources pose an added challenge. Likewise, cooperation between municipalities was defended as a key tool to improve the quality of life of residents.
The Gerialdea project is promoted by residents of El Tormo, a small hamlet of about 30 inhabitants, with the support of the University Extension Program of the Universitat Jaume I. The proposal aims to create an organized network of care that facilitates the permanence of the population, mostly elderly, throughout the year.
From Montanejos, support for this initiative has been conveyed, highlighting the importance of placing people at the center of public policies and strengthening proximity services in rural areas.
