The town of Montanejos, in the Alt Millars region, will host the first edition of the Montanejos Pet Race this Sunday, a charity run that seeks to combine sport, leisure, and awareness about animal welfare.

The event, promoted by the Montanejos Town Council, will start at 11:30 AM and will have an approximate route of 1.5 kilometers. The starting point will be at the Fuente de los Baños and the finish line at Plaza España, with an accessible itinerary for participants of all ages.
The initiative is born with a festive and family-oriented spirit, inviting both residents and visitors to enjoy a different day with their pets. The charitable nature is one of the main focuses, as participation will consist of a donation that will be entirely allocated to the Montanejos Animal Protection Association (Apamont).
According to the council, no prior registration will be necessary, as contributions will be collected directly at a designated point in the starting area, at the Fuente de los Baños. The Town Council encourages citizens to join this proposal, which is incorporated into the municipal program as a novel activity to promote responsible coexistence with pets and raise awareness about their care.
The organization has also reminded participants of a series of basic rules to ensure the smooth running of the race. Pets must be leashed at all times, and their owners must comply with current regulations, especially regarding the collection of excrement and respect for designated areas. It has been specified that swimming in the river will only be allowed in the authorized area, after the Molino.
