The Foia de Castalla region, encompassing the municipalities of Ibi, Castalla, Onil, and Tibi, has seen a notable rise in Social Security affiliates over the past ten years. Last May, the number of contributors approached 19,000, specifically 18,946, marking an increase of 3,730 individuals since 2016.
The trend shows particularly strong growth in the general regime, which accounts for nearly 97% of affiliates, with an additional 3,610 registered. Self-employed workers have also seen an increase, with 192 new registrations, representing 5% of the total growth. In May, there were 15,321 workers in the general regime and 3,478 self-employed. Domestic employees have remained stable around 90, while those in the agricultural sector have halved to just over 60.
Compared to the previous month, the increase in contributors is also positive, with 172 more people between April and May, rising from 18,774 to 18,946.
This rise in workers has been accompanied by a decrease in the number of unemployed individuals. In May, Labora offices registered 2,546 people seeking employment in Foia de Castalla, a significantly lower figure than the 3,917 from a decade ago, representing a 35% decline.
The industrial sector, crucial to the regional economy, has shown an even more remarkable improvement in reducing unemployment, with a 45% decrease in job seekers, dropping from 1,516 to 836 registered over the last decade.
