The Foia de Castalla region closed the first quarter of the year with 18,638 workers affiliated with Social Security, representing an increase of 260 compared to the same period last year.

This overall increase occurs with uneven behavior among the different regimes. The general regime has experienced significant growth, while the number of self-employed workers has decreased during the same period.
Specifically, last March, the number of workers registered in the general regime reached 15,052, after growing by 279 in one year. Conversely, there are now 11 fewer self-employed workers, totaling 3,454. The remaining contributors are distributed between the agricultural sector and domestic workers, according to Ministry data.
With these figures, contributors in the general regime account for 80.76% of the total workers at the end of March, while self-employed individuals represent 18.53%.
In parallel with the increase in contributors, the Foia de Castalla region has also recorded a decrease in the number of unemployed people, both generally and in the industrial sector. In March, the number of job seekers stood at 2,603 people, implying a decrease of 41 people compared to the previous year.
In the industrial sector, which has a special impact on the economy of these regions, the year-on-year decrease has been 23 people, going from 893 to 870 registered. Thus, industry accounts for 33.42% of the total job seekers, according to Labora data.
