L'Alcora Hosts CICA 2026 Gala, a Benchmark in Contemporary Ceramics

The 43rd edition of the International Ceramics Competition of l'Alcora brings together artists from around the world and celebrates talent in a special gala.

L'Alcora once again becomes the hub of contemporary ceramics with the CICA 2026 awards gala, an internationally renowned competition bringing together artists and sector professionals.

This Friday, L'Alcora will host the awards ceremony for the International Ceramics Competition of l'Alcora (CICA) 2026. The event, considered one of the most prominent in the international art scene, will commence at 8:00 PM in the plaça de la Sang. The gathering will bring together artists, institutional representatives, industry professionals, and the general public to recognize talent and creativity in ceramics.
The 43rd edition of the competition has seen significant participation, with 321 ceramists (200 international and 121 national) submitting a total of 472 works. This high level of involvement reaffirms the prestige and international reach of CICA as a platform for ceramic creation.

CICA is a global benchmark that attracts the best talent in contemporary ceramics, consolidating L'Alcora as a key point in the international art scene.

The first prize, sponsored by the City Council of l'Alcora and endowed with 7,000 euros, was awarded to the work Hollowed-out divinity by Chinese artist Zehan Du. The second prize, with 5,000 euros and sponsored by the Provincial Council of Castellón, went to Body poetry by Mariya Alipieva Lazarova. The third prize, worth 3,000 euros, was obtained by Almudena Lobera for her work Las trayectorias que una catástrofe dibuja en secreto. Additionally, two honorable mentions were given to Marta Armada for Equilibrium I and to Xiao Daixian for Inner Aureole.
Following the gala, the Ceramics Museum will host the official inauguration of the exhibition of finalist works from CICA 2026. This exhibition features 42 pieces selected by the jury and will be open to visitors until September 6. The City Council of l'Alcora encourages citizens and lovers of ceramics and contemporary art to attend this event, which positions L'Alcora as an international reference in ceramic creation.
